The Vampry, more often referred to as Ascended, are a species mostly native to Masadonia.

General Information

The Ascended are created when all mortal blood is drained from the body of a mortal and are given the blood of an Atlantian. They need to drink blood to survive and while they are able to eat regular food, it is not necessary. Once they feed and drain a mortal of all their blood without replacing it with the blood of an Atlantian, the mortal turn into Craven—a bloodthirsty undead creature with animal-like behavior. The only way to kill an Ascended is to stab them in the heart or the head.

In Atlantia, it is illegal for an Atlantian to Ascend a mortal or half-Atlantians, for the risk of a frenzied Ascended falling into their bloodlust.

Third sons and daughters taken during the Rite are used as a food source for the Ascended.

Physical Characteristics

They are characterized as having black eyes and are unable to walk in daylight. If they walk in the daylight, they turn to dust soon after and die a slow and painful death. When Poppy uses her empathic abilities, she does not feel any emotion from them.
